That band used to make my skin crawl when they first came out. I haven't heard anything of theirs in years though. - Mon, 20 Dec 2004 7:50pm

I used to be, and still kind of am, a huge CS fan, but the more they glammed up their look, the songwritting quality went down bigtime. And with the departure of Ross Childress, the band could only have gotten worse. I listened to the 30s previews on iTunes, and it sounds very much like Blender, which is their worst album IMO. Decent rock, better than a lot of the crap out there. - Sat, 25 Dec 2004 10:33pm

I bought this CD on a whim a few weeks ago...I'm also a big fan of their older stuff, the self-titled blue album was a really good record. Youth is a serviceable CD, as Ed Roland can write catchy songs in his sleep. A couple of really strong songs on here, but unfortunately more filler tunes than on their old CDs...I think they really miss Childress' guitar work, he contributed more to the songs than many gave him credit for. Overall, a significantly better effort than Blender, worth picking up if you're looking for a solid rock album. - Wed, 29 Dec 2004 1:17pm

Yeah I have always been a fan. I found that their recent work isn't really as good as their previous albums. The new album does have allot of pop/rock antics on it. Not a bad record, but nothing great. With the departure of Ross it was a big blow to the band. But they dont seem to care. They keep talking about how they are a better band and all that crap. Yeah...no. With Ross they got some good guitar work, especially live. But he's doin his own thing now. As for Joel, he is alright. The album is a step up from Blender, but a big step down compared to "Self-Titled" and "Disciplined Breakdown". Even "Dosage" was done better.

I am glad they finally got a record out though. They did re-record it. They may be better muscians now, but the album doesn't show it. - Wed, 29 Dec 2004 6:29pm
