Sati User Info... | Had to hit other bars first so missed the first band. I have some regard for RD because they seem more serious and committed to what they're about, and less distracted than most around here. They don't seem to pull many desperate stunts or participate in bs schemes for more mainstream attention. And so far I haven't seen the singer drop character or crack a smile onstage either, so to me its come off fairly convincing. Masking vulnerabilities is part of what we're after in the black metal realm, no? The fantasy can remain intact. Musically they didn't quite have me the way they have in past, but quite a few friends were into it that night. Mitochondrion. I can't do it because they're one of my favorites and I know they'll probably be reading this. I'm excited because they already hold up against what I think are the very best out there. Thanks for coming and pls make it again asap. Turnout wasn't bad, but I have to say that there were MANY important local metal musicians who were not there. This is embarassing and inexcusable and its a bummer for those of us who go to shows all excited and hoping/expecting to see them. I know its a bummer for the bands not to be able to play for those who've inspired them, esp when they're coming from out of town. Its a drag not to be able to talk like fans with other musicians who understand. Its also a drag not to be able to hang out after shows and talk cuz we're thrown out or have to catch skytrains. Ok, I'm ranting. We've got great bands, but other things could be so much better. - Mon, 14 Apr 2008 1:09am | ||
