Message Board > General Chitchat > where to get amplifiers fixed? |
Anonymous User Info... | wondering if anyone knows the best places to get amps fixed for a reasonable price who know what they're doing... thanks - Fri, 20 Jun 2008 11:10pm
K.C. User Info... | It has been a problem for a long time in Victoria. But good repairs are never cheap unless it's something simple. Here are a couple of tips: 1. If you have tube amplifier, try switching out the tubes. 2. If it is an inexpensive (under $200-$300) amp, especially if it's digital, don't bother. the more complex the amp, the harder it is to fix. 3. If it is something simple like a jack or a power plug issue that any competent repair guy can handle, try Q-lectronics. I think their problem is they will TRY to fix anything, but aren't always successful. Again, not too cheap. Everyone has nightmare stories about repairs - probably because they are difficult without the proper specs and tools. Your best bet if it's a high-quality amp is to get it to an authorized service centre for the brand you have, but that's probably in Vancouver if not Toronto. - Mon, 23 Jun 2008 11:29pm
