Event Description
Presenting the sublime art of celebrated artist Harry Stanbridge.
Harry Stanbridge is a recognized name in the arts. With a B.A in Art Education and an M.A. from The University of British Columbia he comes into art with a powerful set of skills.
Harry Stanbridge is an artist that has been showing his work for decades and has given the artworld many solo exhibitions. One of his strengths is the ability to take the ordinary to extraordinary places and to expose the viewer a different perspective. His art is held in many important collections across the continent.
The collection on show at Art in The Barn Gallery in Victoria BC in May and June 2025 is an important story for the natural world of BC. The place, that the subject matter of these works holds, is in the line of the food chain upon which so much hangs in the balance, and this informs the importance of the story.
And whereas this story moved and changed since the creation of these paintings it has not become less important.
Harry’s commitment to the details along with the mastery of his painting techniques evokes a sense of the natural world in the realm of the surreal. When I view these paintings beyond the fine brushstrokes I am caught up in the lives of these creatures that exist as individuals and are also part of a greater existence. A position that touches us all.
