Enthused about in the pages of Spin and Alternative Press, former vocalist for punky DC rock band Chisel , Ted Leo is a genuine DIY phenom. With his passionate gravelly voice and straight-from-the-heart soulful punk lyricism, Leo has endeared himself to the Vancouver music community as his previous sold out performance with his band The Pharmacists at The Piccadilly Pub would attest. His music is similar but not an homage to the early days of punk, with the Jam and Joe Strummer of The Clash as definite influences. This show will be part of his acoustic tour and sees him on a bill with many of today most recognized underground Vancouver bands, including, Robosexuals, The Notes From Underground, Video Tokyo, The Approach, Joel and Last of the Neighbors, Northland Lumber.
Once known as Closed Caption Radio , Robosexuals are a gang of new wave rock eccentrics who are steadily gaining a buzz in town. The Notes From Underground needs no intro to any music lover in Vancouver, fast and simple songs with no pretension, the Notes harken back to the glory days of alternative rock. Video Tokyo is alt-rock hand picked by the man himself Jason Grimmer of the Nasty On for his label Stutter Records. The Approach lay down tight angular post-rock, Joel and Last of the Neighbors is a cool side project from Joel of The Doers, finally Northland Lumber who has John Cow from Terminal City fame in the band. Wow what a show. Where the hell else are you going be on this Friday night?
