Please, no more burlesque at metal shows. It is the titillating equivalent to Jamie's noise interludes during a Compound Terror show. - Mon, 25 Aug 2008 3:57pm

Wow.
This show definitely receives the Trevcore seal of approval.
Get there early, get your money's worth, none of these bands should be missed.
Wow.

I'd be more into the bloody bettys if they weren't so, you know, bloody. - Mon, 25 Aug 2008 11:53pm Edited: Tue, 26 Aug 2008 1:11am

That was so fucking awesome! What an absolutely amazing great bands in small club experience.
Smaked Out Brainz sound better every time.
Lethal Dose sounded awesome too. One of those bands you can feel as much as hear. I mean like as in the heavyness is so heavy it vibrates up through the floor into your body. I hope we don't lose them.
L.S.D. was so good. For a guy like me that was into Skinny Puppy and F.L.A. this was good for the soul. HUGE talent. I will remember this one. Thanks Heather!

....haha, I even got to stop a guy from beating up another guy. LOL. - Sat, 6 Sep 2008 2:45am

It was great time, i really enjoyed the whole night.LSD was really good imo. Everything went really nice and smooth except one thing. That is Bloody Betty not even giving us 2 minutes to get our shit out of the way and covering all of our gear ( including pedals and guitars) in red liquid. Nonetheless it was a good night, thanks to Heather for putting it together. - Sat, 6 Sep 2008 3:20am Edited: Sat, 6 Sep 2008 9:03am

that sucks about your guys' gear SERK - that is just way too inconsiderate

i personally do not go to any shows w/ Bloody Betty on the bill - i think they detract from the show - not very entertaining & just not into it -

im glad the show was awesome though - hope the turnout was great - considering the amount of quality shows goin on last night - that is good to hear. - Sat, 6 Sep 2008 2:44pm

Please, no more Bloody Betty burlesque nonsense at metal shows.
Not sure why it's been included in local shows as of late. Perhaps someones girlfriend trying to piggyback their way to fame and fortune?
Regardless, stupid and pointless, STOP IT NOW.

Thanks!!!! - Thu, 11 Sep 2008 10:40pm

Id say the more important thing to address is DONT GET YOUR CRAP ON BANDS GEAR, unless of course its pre-arranged. Id be pissed if that gloop got all into my pickups and knobs/machine heads. - Fri, 12 Sep 2008 10:41am

Did she not give you the option of a tarp? She gave us one for our show on the 24th at lucky. We covered all of our equiptment. - Sun, 5 Oct 2008 9:22pm

Did you not know who Bloody Betty was before performing on a bill with her? Didn't you figure Bloody equalled some sort of blood? Seems sort of silly to complain since you were on a bill with her. You should have prepared yourselves and your gear. I guess take it as a lesson learnt. I for one like having a mix of nudity and metal. What could be better then naked chicks and music?? - Sun, 5 Oct 2008 9:33pm

Id still be pissed.. and not everyone knows who everyone else is in the scene even in this little village of Victoria. Bottom line, give the band a chance to get the $1000's of dollars worth of gear away from the gloopy transformer destroying, pickup clogging crap, just walking out there and not giving any warning or help get their gear out of the way is absolutely ignorant. Option of a tarp? In most venues the stage belongs to the band on it, until they get their gear off, how about option of stay the fuck away till the band have their gear off the stage. - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 10:28am Edited: Mon, 6 Oct 2008 10:31am

So I should assume that Unleash the Archers will feature actual archers on stage? Or perhaps S.I.C.K. will be vomiting all over others bands gear, just because their name implies sickness?

You are obviously one of these chubby burlesque losers that considers this type of act "art".
Newsflash- it ain't. Naked can be good, just not when drenched in red corn syrup, ruining other people's gear. - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 4:05pm

Alright, I will give you that. Still, if you are preforming on a bill with someone usually you either know or check out what they are about. Oh and ya, I am one of 'those' women, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd rather watch Burlesque performers then cracked out, crotch rot, strippers. - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 5:26pm

Still, if you are preforming on a bill with someone usually you either know or check out what they are about.

You're saying it's up to the bands to research this ridiculous act and conclude whether or not their gear is at risk for damage?

That's like saying a venue is to blame for backstage antics of rowdy bands.

"Well, management of Sugar night club, you should have checked into our past, you'd have discovered we're rowdy coke heads that often punch holes in walls and smash porcelain fixtures. Not our responsibility!!!". - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 7:43pm Edited: Mon, 6 Oct 2008 7:44pm

Definitely all for getting Bloody Betty off of these crappy schlock rock bills. The Gorelesque troop is a million times more entertaining and it sucks having to sit through mediocre bands I would never normally have anything to do with just to catch something that is actually distinct and interesting.

It would be like billing the Jim Rose Circus (back in the day) with a stack of generic pop punk bands.

The one time I saw Bloody Betty at Lucky with Hank + Lilly as the intermission between two long sets was one of the best gigs I had been to in many years (up there with the first Tard gig at Logan's even). More please.

IMHO of course.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Why wouldn't you want to know who you are playing with? Would you really want to be teamed up with a super shitty band or a pop band when you're a hardcore metal band? I would want to know who I am on a bill with and at least have an idea of what they are about because I'd want to know whether or not it's worth my time, or if they are popular or not. I don't want to be with a band or act that no one is going to show up for. Seems like good business practise. Done with my point. It just makes sense to me and is simply a different view point. - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 9:18pm

This is the correct idea:
"Bottom line, give the band a chance to get the $1000's of dollars worth of gear away from the gloopy transformer destroying, pickup clogging crap, just walking out there and not giving any warning or help get their gear out of the way is absolutely ignorant. Option of a tarp? In most venues the stage belongs to the band on it, until they get their gear off, how about option of stay the fuck away till the band have their gear off the stage."

Professional behavior is key to co-existing with any act in any market. Sounds to me like the Bloody Betty act did not give the preceding act the courtesy of 10 minutes to tear down and remove their gear from the stage knowing full well she/they would be making a bloody mess.
Great way to create resentment and keep bands from wanting to have you on a bill.

"So I should assume that Unleash the Archers will feature actual archers on stage?"

Haven't laughed out loud in a while. That is a great visual. Well done, sir. - Mon, 6 Oct 2008 11:03pm

That'd be totally dramatic - think of it, they could all aim & shoot the lights out on cue!!!

Re all this, from what I know of Carli, she's pretty pro. Given that others were given a tarp, this was probably just a one time oversight that occurred in the excitement of it all. Who knows what all the circumstances were.
And I don't get it - knowing what they do doesn't mean bands should assume their gear will be in jeopardy. That doesn't make sense, esp. when we know bb have shared the stage with lots of different types of acts before and should know the drill by now. - Tue, 7 Oct 2008 9:30am Edited: Tue, 7 Oct 2008 9:32am

"So I should assume that Unleash the Archers will feature actual archers on stage?"

But of course, and no fake blood either, just the real stuff pouring out of the audience..

And if you happen to have your gear in the backline waiting for your set, too fuckin bad, you should known there'd be human blood all over the gear..

PS: reminds of the time we (ML7) played with Dead Jesus in Edmonton and Calvin threw rotting pigs blood all over the crowd.. The van ride to Kamloops that night was a rather pungeant experience!

He was wise enough to let us get our gear off the stage first though. - Tue, 7 Oct 2008 10:10am Edited: Tue, 7 Oct 2008 10:53am

just my 2 cents but i think burlesque and metal shows are two things that should not be mixed....like metal and rap, oil and water, etc....i will never attend any metal show that has anything to do with burlesque...i just heard of a band from kamloops that has a burlesque show performing as they play....yikes - Tue, 7 Oct 2008 4:51pm
