hunter User Info... | Brian put on a damn good show as always but it fucking pisses me off how he works so hard for these and people disrespect him like they did tonight! - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 12:36am
jay brown User Info... | Great show I had a great time.. I really liked dragging that fuckhead that thought he was all tough down the street. I think as a rule from now on anytime those crusty fuckers show up drunk and start being dumbasses they should get their faces beaten to a pulp. It seems to me that the only reason people do stupid shit at shows anymore is cause there arent enough people punching them in the face when they act stupid. But enough about fucking goofs...... the show was great, I thought all the bands played great. 99.9% of the crowd were really cool.... I cant believe one of the people that was part of that group that broke the windows in the first place showed up, how stupid do you have to be huh.... - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 2:13am
Cheeky User Info... | I arrived after coming from the theatre and was all fancy lookin' (apparently) because I didn't want to miss this show. Though I only got to see 3 songs from Self Inflicted before rushing off to work, but that was enough. Everyone that I talked to said that the showed rocked and that Brian did a amazing job. It was a great idea to lock the doors and yes, it was pretty stupid to see some of the kids who did brake the windows from the other show there. The brentwood youth committee would like to donate some money as well cause we know what it is like to have things broken and have to pay for them. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 10:29am
Whiskey User Info... | I just have ONE thing to say to all the 14 year old girls in the moshpit: RETRACT YOUR FUCKING CLAWS!!!! It's aaallllll good until somebody gets bitten. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 10:51am
hunter User Info... | haha, no shit - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 11:32am
Brian VIHC User Info... | Hey guys, the show went reasonably well last night. I won't bother commenting on getting punched in the face or any of the circumstances around it because it's a legal matter now (!). I'll leave it at saying that I'm far too positive a guy to let it get me down. After venue costs, we managed to raise a little over $300 to put towards the windows. If that doesn't cover them I would be surprised. The number of stumbling drunks trying to come in for nothing seems to be increasing with each passing show. Kids who hang around out front being loud and obnoxious bring unneeded attention to what is supposed to be an underground scene. At future shows we'll need to impose a "no ins and outs" rule similar to what they have at some shows I've been to in other places. Another measure would be to use venues further from town ensuring that only kids who actually want to come to the show make the effort to get there. Oh and at future shows I will not be letting any stumblingly drunk kids in for any amount of money - cleaning up puke in the girls' bathroom isn't really cool. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 11:34am
Hari User Info... | Great show Brian. Yeah, it sort of sucks that their has to be all this drama with shows now. It was rad to see so many kids at the pandora projects just like how they used to be. The lights that Self inflicted set up were perfect for that venue, and (i think) should have been used all night. It was also my first time seeing war bombs and the nails with the new line-ups. All the bands were grand and i hope that people can just grow up (or fuxk off) so we don't have to use silly rules. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 3:06pm
canon.docre User Info... | The no ins-and-outs is pretty harsh for smokers, though. I guess you probably don't care .. sorry I couldn't make it, I wanted to but had practice. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 3:18pm
hunter User Info... | I know it costs more but you could have the courtyar for smokers - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 4:41pm
XJAyX User Info... | K, the show was rad, despite my abosloute hatred of that venue, it was actually probably the perfect spot for that show. After the TATTOO ZOO brought the lights it was way better. Everyone played sweet, thanks to Dischord for letting me sing to Minor Threat, SI are getting so fucking fast I can't wait for their new CD, and it was rad to see AWT after so long. Thanks to SI for bringing the PA gear. I think Jay Brown is right, as much as I don't want to see fighting at shows, there are times when it's needed. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 4:51pm
jay brown User Info... | Fuck it if no ins and outs is what you have to do then so be it. If smokers care that much then they can start shit kicking the drunk dumbasses that are wrecking their smoking privelages. I am not kidding at all I really think we should all collectively just start kicking the living shit out of anyone that fucks around at shows. How many promoters and venues have to get fucked over and shut down huh... there was many years where we couldnt have shows in Vic at all because of shit like this and now here comes a whole new crowd of idiots wrecking our scene, I say fuck them stand up for yourselves and let them know they dont make the decisions.... I know violence is wrong, blah, blah, blah. Nothing a swift kick in the teeth wont cure. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 5:02pm
XJAyX User Info... | Oh yeah and I totally got a couple of those guys pictures so if they ever show up again, they're fucked before hand. And I'm going to keep doing it, so if you don't want your picture taken before you get my brass knuckles in your face, then don't fuck around at victoria hardcore shows. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 5:02pm
josh User Info... | its totaly legal to take pcitures of people without thier consent? news to me. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 6:16pm
rory User Info... | Yes, it's legal to take pictures of people with out their consent, as long as they are deemed to be in a public place. As far as I know: It's what you DO with the pictures that matters. If I take pics of a somneone at a bus stop for my own use, i.e. a student photographer practicing ones skills, then it's legal unless the person objects (an then it's not a photgraphic matter, if I decide to sing neer you in public, you can object too). If I'm working for a newspaper, and I'm doing a story on BC Transit bus stop vanadalism, then the picture is deemed "editorial", and freedom of press rules then come into play. Even if you object, due to the fact that it's editorial use only, it's very hard for you to object to me taking your picture, as long as it's relevent to the story. How ever, if you are not in public, then I have very limited rights as a photographer, you can stop me from taking picture if I'm on your property, and If i'm standin in public, but you are in your home, then you can stop me from publishing the pictures. Also, if a picture is not deemed editorial, and the photographer (or copyright holder of the image) intends to make money from the image, then a Model release may be required of the person(s) who is the subject of the image. If the venue wants to take pictures of these people causing all the trouble, then all the venue has to do is post a sign saying that buy buying a ticket and/or entering the venue, you agree to have your photograph taken. I am not a lawyer, but I am a photogapher, and this is what I'm aware of as the "rules". If any lawyers post here I'd like to know weather I'm right. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 6:21pm
x Buddy x User Info... | It makes me sad that our scene is coming to this. I hear a lot of kids complaining about Brians shows because they think he does what does becuase he is Straightedge. This has nothing to do with straightedgers vs. non-straightedgers , this is about people who care about our scene vs. people who just wanna fuck shit up. Brian has put so much into this scene and has gotten nothing but shit back and it pisses me off. It's unfortunate that we actually have to discuse using violence to start solving these problems. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 6:23pm
Demen Ted User Info... | Show was great, left after AWT, though... I saw the fucker punch Brian in the face... He even got on my bus (After they took him away) got on my bus when I was headin back to good old Langford... I've seen him before, he's a real cunt. G-G-G G-UNIT! Good job to the dude who was kickin him. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 6:28pm
JS User Info... | RE: "its totaly legal to take pcitures of people without thier consent? news to me." I believe the ruling is that a photographer is free to take a picture of whatever or whomever he or she wants as long as it's in a public place. But if you're going to be using the pictures as evidence against something, it would probably be a good idea to post a notice somewhere just to be safe. - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 7:01pm
The Wolf User Info... | It was a good show...just a few questions though? Was the show running late? If it was not then the "Doors open at 7 show starts at 8:00" thing needs work. You are not selling alcohol from 7-8:00 PM that extra hour is just increasing your risk of trouble and no greater profit. Doors open at 7:50 Show starts at 8:00 PM would be better.. What was the name of the song the Band before S.I.played last that every one sang/jammed in on..."They play it all the time, but no one knows the name ??"If any one knows the name that would clear up some confusion. Can you get those Girls some Jello to wrestle in? that wasn't moshing that was survival of the fittest UFC Style lol..oh well Good show lots of fun...I will have to post a picture of that HEY FUCK FACE guy with a blue dot over his head. I can't believe the freak showed up at the benefit - Sun, 21 Nov 2004 7:37pm

V User Info... | well.. i feel like i should say something. first of all, i think it's extremely lame that windows got broken at a show. That's just blatant destruction of the SCENE that supports us "crusty motherfuckers" and we need that scene like a fucking sanctuary, so to fuck it up makes no sense. Period. That said, i've got to say that drinking, smoking, fucking, causing shit really does go hand in hand with punk fucking rock.. hardcore or whatever you want to call it. When you go to see a band called Alcoholic White Trash it doesn't exactly inspire sobriety. Now, that doesn't give the patrons of that show a license to fuck shit up without suffering the consequences.. and the fact remains that stupid people are stupid wether they are sober or drunk, but I don't think anyone wants a fucking class war between the straight edgers and the punks, the punk and the homies.. or any other lowest common denominator. That's just stupid. Yea, I deal with a lot of frustration too and sometimes you just want to brawl with anybody who's up for it.. don't even need a reason. But that's really just fucking around (i don't actually hate that person). If you're going to fight about something you'd better be sure it's about something important. And you'd better be fucking sure as shit that you've got the right guy, cause taking your fat aggression out on a scapegoat is just as irresponsible as breaking random shit, drinking at shows and/or just being an idiot. Mostly what i want to say is that we should be trying to support each other, not fight one another. In a society where high-school attitude dominates there are far better class wars to fight. Do you really want to be in a scene where you have a serious problem with half the people there? Makes no sense to me. Let it the fuck go, or go somewhere else. - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 12:47pm
lunchbox User Info... | fuck you, lets fight! - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 4:15pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | i'm suing you for that comment. - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 4:17pm
mike User Info... | no one seems to have mentioned that tough as nails' new set was ridiculously vicious.i look forward to hearing it again. Also, the person who said that "drinking, smoking, fucking shit up...does go hand in hand..with hardcore" is a fucking ignorant douchebag who should be bitch-slapped. jocks and homies are all about that shit, and they are fucking retards too. Anyone who wants to get super drunk and fuck shit up better not come anywhere near hardcore shows or you're gonna get kicked in the teeth. there are too many people too dedicated to the scene to tolerate that shit - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 6:32pm
Brian VIHC User Info... | Ah Mike, ever the diplomat. If people want to get wasted and wreck things, do it a friend's house who doesn't care about their stuff getting wrecked. But at a community centre with an attendant that doesn't want drunk kids stumbling around in front of the venue, it's not too smart. Neighbours complain, shows get banned, the scene dries up. That's all. - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 1:44am
vinyl_villain User Info... | "That said, i've got to say that drinking, smoking, fucking, causing shit really does go hand in hand with punk fucking rock.. hardcore or whatever you want to call it" Is it just me... or do you REALLY suck at life. What you said, is in MY books, bad news baseball, also known as trouble. - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 3:09am
DOOMHAMMER User Info... | omgwtfbbq - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 5:16am
x Buddy x User Info... | uhh.. Mike you don't speak for the hardcore scene , and kicking someone in the teeth at a show is just as damaging as getting drunk and breaking shit. I am gonna say AGAIN, it's not about people who don't drink vs. people who do. It's not about whether not drinking is morally wrong or whatever . It's about people doing to stupid things that are damaging to the scene , the scene that people like Brian have put a lot of time, effort and money into , a scene that may not mean anything to the kids who break windows , but means a fucking lot to a lot of other people. The last thing I ever wanna see in fighthing within the scene . - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 9:49am
hunter User Info... | john, i think you mean never see fighting - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 12:05pm
jay brown User Info... | It cracks me up that people always associate the A.W.T. with trouble. I defy anyone to name a single show ever where we wrecked anything whatsoever. Sure were Alcoholic White Trash we are named that for a reason. We do go out and drink ourselves silly and get in bar brawls and do all the silly stuff that goes along with the name, thats just kinda who we are. But, name once at an all ages show where any of us ever did anything retarded like that. Dont try to use our band as an excuse for acting like an idiot, we are intelligent enough to know not to be total losers at an all ages venue and hell so should you it's pretty basic. Listen to the bands, kick the shit out of each other in the pit, then wander a few blocks away and wreck shit it just aint that hard to comprehend. - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 12:55pm
V. User Info... | Love the part about wandering a few blocks away. "Gee whiz, there's a hardcore gig down the street. I could hear it earlier, and now my new Benz is smashed up, my garden's been fucked beyond all recognition and my mailbox is knocked over. Must be those hippies down the other way." - Mon, 29 Nov 2004 1:06pm
jay brown User Info... | No offence to Blenz or Starbucks or the hippies down the street, but fuck them I could care less. Punk rockers are notorious for being idiots are destroying stuff. They are also well known for being very self destructive, which usually means lots of drinking and drug abuse. While I am perfectly aware that there is a large part of the scene that is straight edge and quite frankly I tend to like what they stand for more often than not it is by no means even close to the whole community. If the kids are going to be silly and trash stuff, hell I totally approve of wandering a few blocks down the street and kicking out a starbucks or mcdonalds or blenz or whatever other silly corporation happens to be there. It is going to happen anyways when you get a bunch of drunk teenagers together so what the hell send them off and let them do it to someone that probably deserves it instead of the promoter or the people that run the hall that were trusting enough to let us in the door. If they get busted for trashing stuff well that is their problem for being stupid in the first place but at least they werent trashing the hall...and the city has been so boring since Dustin Schwamn grew up anyways.... - Mon, 29 Nov 2004 2:44pm
