Sati User Info... | So all of you know by now that Wendythirteen split and has moved over to the Asbalt (The Astoria on Hastings) to continue on the Cobalt punkrock/hardcore/metal tradition. (Her official Opening Day is Thursday Sept 23!). So Blackie/Jason has decided to take over the Cobalt on his own with a more eclectic variety of music, something we've seen him ease into more personally for the past couple of years. Good on both, carrying on with whats right for them. Last night was opening night, and I got there to be told that Jason wasn't around because he & Kyla just had their baby girl! I think it was a bit earlier than she'd planned, judging from all the shows she'd listed upcoming and her worrying that it may be a scorpio/monkey just like Jay! Nice thing was that he showed up at the end of the night so we could offer our congrats. It sounds like alls well. A virgo baby, hmmmmm.. Lots of people at the bar for SideSixtySeven, The Inebriators and Solid. Bands all sounded cool.. man, those Side67 guys have the most upbeat stage presence, way positive, lets hope it sets a tone for the bar. It all looked pretty much the same, but without all the posters, all the machines, the sound booth, gear and most of the stage! But a lot of Wendy's artwork (& others') remains, thankfully, and of course the actual bar (didja know Jay built that?) and the vibe live on. Unlike closing night a few weeks ago, I recognized most of the faces as being regulars, including (for at least that night) the staff.. pheeew.. lets see what this new chapter brings. Was a good night. I'd say it wasn't the same without Wendy, but I can't. Jay's been missing a lot over the past year too, but... they've both made a huge imprint with Fullbore Hardcore, so its more than just one or the other's actual presence in a particular bar that carries this scene. Thanks both of you for keeping this all going, whatever way you've gotta do it. - Sat, 18 Sep 2004 1:03pm | ||
