wee User Info... | i waffled for a week about heading out to this show. i'd heard one track off the new pedro album and wasn't exactly smitten. coupling that with the fact that i have seen pedro a number of times in the past and my laziness equals not much reason for me to head out. but thankfully, i came to my senses at about 10pm and headed out. ester drang were a lovely surprise. i haven't had a good shoegazing like that in a while. and the perfectly timed visuals were a nice treat. there must be something in that oklahoma water that makes for good psych bands. within the opening bar of 'nothing' i was happy that i had decided to come to the show. the fact that pedro the lion started out with one of my favourite songs made the trip worthwhile. they deftly wound their way through a good mix of new songs--which i will undoubtedly grow to love--and older stuff, both rocking and slow. the full band version of 'slow and steady wins the race' was excellent. but the highlight was the haunting 'june 18, 1976' that had me shivering. so damn good. i guess the sole dissapointment was the lack of an encore. but alas, it meant i got to go to bed earlier than expected. - Fri, 5 Mar 2004 11:54am | ||
