Message Board > Gear Buy & Sell > Yamaha NS10M studio monitors - near perfect |
Fusion Head User Info... | Yes, these are the world's most popular studio near-field monitors of all time, the very recognizable 'white woofer' speakers seen sitting on the mixing bridge in most top studios. Yamaha NS10M's have been out of production since 2001, and used ones are still in high demand, with original Yamaha replacement parts still being made. If you're reading this posting, you probably know what these are and why they are so popular. If not, see here: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep08/articles/yamahans10.htm I am selling my near-perfect pair of NS10M's. They are the later 'horizontal' versions with the improved tweeters. I bought them new about 20 years ago and honestly have hardly ever used them (I currently have 3 other sets of speakers I mix with). I am guessing there is less than 200 hours on these things. Mechanically they are perfect, original woofers with original caps, original tweeters, original shipping box, original manual, and MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS. Cosmetically, they are near-perfect, not a visible scratch, only a few scuffs on the bottom. I have, however, done a small modification to allow them to sit securely on two custom-made mini desktop pedestal stands (see photo) that raise and angle them perfectly at your ears when you sit them on standard height desk (not on a meter bridge). This required two small, shallow holes on the bottom of each speaker which are not visible and do not in any way affect the sound. These are part of the package if you want them. I have seen used pairs of NS10M's going for well above $400 and often in far less good condition as mine, so I think my asking price is fair. - Thu, 13 Jan 2011 9:42pm Edited: Thu, 13 Jan 2011 9:42pm

zippgunn User Info... | Hate to be a negative nelly but NS 10's are, IMHO the most overrated speakers in history. Whoever bought these should remember to hang toilet paper over the tweeters unless they want all their mixes to sound like muddy crap. I wouldn't use them as wheel chocks. - Fri, 4 Feb 2011 4:39pm
steve User Info... | http://www.bobhodas.com/tissue.html wouldnt tackle the whole mix on em but for checking mixes and poking around the highs/high-mids they're effective. - Sat, 5 Feb 2011 2:43pm
