The Mojo Stars

Pablo Discobar is Australia's premier original soul/funk outfit. 8 of Melbourne's hardest working musicians have put together an ensemble that conjures up images of scungy dancehalls, brown suits and reel-reel tape machines. However, Pablo Discobar is not a tribute band. With an appreciation of what was, Pablo Discobar keep things current with a strong emphasis on fresh, breaks beats and rhymes. Executed with an unbridled energy and tightness, Pablo Discobar represent soul/funk the way it should be played – raw, nasty and in the pocket.

Pablo Discobar have earnt their stripes and confirmed their reputation as one of Australia's hardest working bands with a relentless touring schedule that includes appearances at the Woodford Folk Festival, The Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Brisbane international Arts Festival, The Famous Spiegeltent and St Kilda Festival.

Pablo's latest release, "The Only Thing EP" is a collection of 5 super heavy soul floor shakers that truly encapsulated the bands live energy. Recorded in one all- night jam session in the back streets of Melbourne, Pablo Discobar have created a body of work thank stands to be respected around the world.

Wisconsin Slim

Foot stompin’ free-for-alls and country laments meet right where Bob Dylan, Mississippi Fred MacDowell, R.L. Burnside and Hank Williams sit down together to eat BBQ and drink whiskey. This is music to stand up and shout right before you sit down and cry about it. The band beats with a pulse as steady as a pile-driver, rolling forward like a lone freight across an endless prairie. - Stuart Derdeyn, Vancouver Province

The Hoppin’ Mad Orchestra

The Hoppin' Mad Orchestra

The Hoppin' Mad Orchestra, or HMO for short, is a hot dance band made up of young musicians from Vancouver, Canada. The band has over 500 charts in the library, ranging from the late 1920's golden jazz era, through the swing era of the 1930's and right up to and including the 1940's music of Glenn Miller and Count Basie. HMO is a 10 piece hot dance orchestra: 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, 3 reeds and 4 rhythm. The inclusion of three-part harmony and solo vocals really adds to the presentation, and HMO is blessed to have two outstanding vocalists, Evan Arntzen and Bria Skonberg.

The band is comprised of no less than four women, with the overall average age of the band members being "twenty-something". The word is spreading rapidly about the Hoppin' Mad Orchestra, which is quickly becoming a favourite for the Lindyhoppers and festivals alike.

Another big selling point for the band is the fact that there are two other fantastic bands included within the HMO. One is everyone's favourite, The 51st Eight, a band that is becoming a household name amongst festivals and fans up and down the west coast. The second is the New Orleans Ale Stars, a band that will be making its US debut at festivals next year, and is certainly set to create a stir.
