Who absolutly CANNOT stand it when they are writing/doing something, and then it ALL GETS DELETED because the webserver FORGOT ABOUT YOU! gah... I just wrote a 500 word review or so and it all got delted... barse... annnnYYWAY. lets start (again) with... BLACK TIE SOCIAL: From what i hear it was their first prefomance (performance? @#$% it, I cant spell, this isnt "english class). Good show guys. I really enjoyed hearing a modern twist to funk. The keyboard/sax player did a great job, it gets hectic having to deal with lots of stuff at once, unfortunatly, I didnt see to much swapping... the keyboardist basically played one or the other for each song... no worries tho, you guys still did good. I liked the opening However, your stage presence could liven up a bit. Im not saying you were cardboard boxes, but I wasnt really impaced by you, hence the word "presence." make yourselves more "PRESENT", there arent THAT many of you (comapred to a genuwine funk abnd, or a ska band) so maybe during re-hersals or practise work on some "moves." An audiance likes to be engrossed with LIVENESS and energy... even if you guys are chill, interact with the audiance more... make fun of you're MOM or do something funny, hell tell a REALLLY bad joke or SOMETHING... your PRESENCE and DELIVERY is what makes you remembered! TAKE more risks! C+ ------------ +Good first show +Cool tunes +Easy to follow -Easy to follow -Not Very "Present" +keep it up! SOLMN FIST: N/A Didn't hear it... ONE HANDED PRAYER: okay so this is my band... we didn't play very good, I @#$%ED up way more times than what is excusable. I deserve a spank ian! :( lol. We've had much better jams. whatever, progress is ineveitable. C+ ------------- +... Don't think im blowing any sunshine up your ass either... The band has come a way since the time when Gio Linguanti played guitar for you...or at least since he apperently did. I loved every second of it, and its the best show ive ever seen you play... nothing more to say! YOU TOOK RISKS!! you JAMMED, YOU HAD FUN...I would pay 8$ just to see YOU play an hour long set! YOU YOU YOU YOU YOU! I know I know... im an ass, but I MUST VOICE MY OPINION! Okay... COMPLETELY dig the complex rythem/accents. You guys totaly give off a MArs Volta / Dillenger Escape PLAN vibe and it REALLY WORKS... I would like to see more "roaming" Just jam more, tweak the songs a bit, imrpove a solo or something? you are risk takers by playing what you do... just take a few more! P.S. Good work guys, you deserve all the credit you have recived and more. Congratulations and best of luck with any goals you try to achieve in the future! and finallly... CROWNED KING: While reading a review for a game which I cannot remember, there was a quote that vivdly stuck out then, and still to this day still does. It was while reading game revolution that I sumbled upon the ideology that "(*with a southern accent drawl*) if you keep on earin dem sticks of butter, you'll forget how good dem squirrils taste." I still to this day (along with the game revolution reviewer) have no clue what that means, but it deffinatly is a cool quote anyways isn't it? Moving on, from an "eclectic" (meaning musically un biased) stand point I can appreciate Crowned king for what they do. Unfortunatly i would not pay money to specifically see them... heres Why. Ska music is very much a "pop" genre, meaning that it is very "POP"ULAR and easy to find. I would calssify blink182 as being pop, and mainstream. I am very anti mainstream. I feel that there are many other bands, who are BETTER than crowned king. For the age and amount of time they have been together (which I presume is a fairly long time) they should be much better. I would have liked to see more risk taking by the trumpets. You guys SOUNDED GREAT from the inside, but it almost sounded liek you're horns got distorted through sound nodes or something, cuz on the outside it sounded like... squirrils fighting over butter? well maybe not but still. I just get bored hearing 4/4 over and OVER again, and the same key changes (fifths, MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR) ect. Mind u it is a very PROVEN technique and WORKS... but due to the fact that I somewhat of a musician (and somewhat of an ignorant cynical, non-confomist), I just get bored! in short spice it up! PLAY SKA IN 5/4, OR 6/8!! THAT WOULD BE SO RAD!!! HAVE SOME HORN SECTION SOLOS, take off your pants (I love you lil dave, ***I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS MOMENT TO SAY THAT PUSHING UP DAISIES RULES...HAHHAAHA!), or do something that hasnt been seen before B ------------- +Good Solid performance +LOTS of band members +---Fit well with the show (other bands ect) + GREAT singer! - who sounds the same every song - Okay, so 4/4 is cool... but so is a syncopated 5! - not very "risky" I like risks - You will be better with time + YOU BRING LOTS OF HOT GIRLS! - who are all way too hot for me :( :'( Thanks for reading! jammin! p.s. if you would liek to hear more of my opinion please say so :P:P:P...
