Sati User Info... | My cell phone company just had this really creepy guy call me to pitch some promotion. The thing is that the guy kinda sounded like Nardwuar at his peak but without the quick, interesting and witty part. More like slllllllooooooooooow and retarded with loooooong pauses between sentences. He left these super long pauses after words like "fantastiic"....................... deal. "Incredible"........................ offer. His pauses were so delayed that after a while I thought it was a recording waiting for my response, so I stopped responding. He kept going anyway. Then I got really creeped out thinking that there was no way this guy could be allowed by my phone provider to talk with their clients and that it must be a hoax. So I hung up. I just didn't have the time or the patience to wait it through. Kinda like me as a kid with Mr Rogers. A few minutes later he called back so it turned out he really was a real person. I said now's not a good time and he asked when he might call back. I just said I didn't know and hung up again. He sounded a little confused and concerned but ew. Now, should I call my phone company to complain about them letting creepy people call me or will some poor guy actually lose his job? Or is that the best thing for everyone concerned? Customer service is just getting worse and worse. - Tue, 22 Apr 2008 7:49pm Edited: Tue, 22 Apr 2008 7:56pm

Doc User Info... | Which provider do you use? I used to do customer service for a cell company, and in all honesty, there is very little that customer service could do for you if you call them about it. The people who make out calls work separately from the people who take inbound calls. Even if you had the guys name, they probably couldn't do anything about it. The only thing that you could possibly do, is switch to a different provider. ~Beer + whiskey = happy. Doc - Tue, 22 Apr 2008 9:50pm

BBJones User Info... | "Now, should I call my phone company to complain about them letting creepy people call me ..." Yes. Call. Complain. Your complaint by itself means nothing, but it no one complains then nothing will change. Actions do speak loudest so if you can complain while cancelling their service then even better. I must say, I almost laughed out loud when I started reading your post... title was about bad customer service, first 3 words had "cell phone". Duh. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 9:37am
Aidan Logins User Info... | Why bother complaining. I think the best place for a creepy dude like that is in a call center. He was offering promotions, so you probably wouldn't want to listen to him even if he sounded suave and pleasing. This guy needs to have SOME job. Where could he serve better? He could end up in job where you actually WANT his services, then you'd have to deal with him. It's an unsolicited call, just hang up if they're creepy. I'd complain if he was the one taking customer calls, because then it would be difficult. But as it is, that is the best place for him. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 10:00am

Bounce User Info... | I don't think thats bad customer service, so much as maybe just a nervous guy on the other end of the line!...if he was rude to you complain, but other than that just call the company and opt out of any promotional calls! - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 12:52pm
JDL User Info... | id have to agree with bounce... yeah its fucking annoying that providers make out calls for promotions etc. Just tell them you wish no further contact with their sale or promotion calls and they should comply. Further than that, your complaints would fall on deaf ears. But if you feel compelled to let them know; by all means fire off a complaint to their call centre. Otherwise id just chalk it up to some idiot kid who cant read a script for the life of them; and tell him directly or indirectly(what ever floats your boat) you want no further dealings with him/her or their promotion/sales staff. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 3:21pm
Sati User Info... | creepy guy with bad communication skills could be doing something which does not involve communicating with their remaining customers who they probably don't want to alienate. I might have been interested in the promotion, but not if I had to tolerate that guy. Its not his fault, its the fault of a personnel dept or something. its not that big a deal, i wasn't really going to go out of my way about it, but they also called me yesterday to tell me they hadn't been paid because they stopped taking it off my credit card. I had called them 2 months ago to tell them to switch cards but the switching part got lost. She admitted it was their error and when i told her i didn't have my ccard with me to give her the # again she told me my service would be discontinued and there's be a $25 re-activation fee. When I protested, she got irate and yelled at me - yelled over me. I didn't even yell, and I was the one who was being messed with. It was pretty upsetting actually. I called today to give them my card# and while I was at it complained about both. sigh. i've got a great plan though. - Sun, 4 May 2008 3:12am Edited: Sun, 4 May 2008 3:14am
