Sati User Info... | For those who haven't yet heard, Geoff Lloyd of The Slickjacks has passed away. He and his wife Lisa were out east helping Lisa's mom who finally lost her own life to cancer a couple of weeks ago. I met Geoff & Lisa during the last round of reno's at the Cobalt. They both launched into the task at hand with more conviction, dedication and full on sweat than almost anyone else I'd seen through there. They also brought a lot of instances of cuteness and laughter to what was otherwise a dark, dank, dismal job & place during those times, which I'm sure Wendy appreciated, since she was somewhat on her own that last round. I was always struck by how kind, trusting and eager Geoff & Lisa always were to say hello and include me (though I did comparatively much less in being a part & helping out that time), and to reminisce about those days together whenever I ran into them since. They always floored me in how they most always succeeded in ignoring, and then breaking through and getting me to overcome my overly-cool or grouchy disposition - they were both just that genuinely sweet and encouraging. That's what I think really made them part of the Cobalt family. They were able to be forgiving, because they understood. This is another heartbreaking blow to a certain, tightknit community of musicians and fans here. There will be a gathering at the Astoria on Sunday night. My condolences, everyone. I don't think that Lisa's back yet.. so I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that someone out there is holding her hand right now. - Mon, 1 Feb 2010 8:29pm Edited: Mon, 1 Feb 2010 8:44pm | ||
