_Griphin_ User Info... | Is it just me, or does this band feel there bigger then a lot of the local bands, or the local scene for that matter? I saw an interview that was done last week for the Daily, and I (sorta) quote: "We were nominated for the M-Power awards last year, but we only really won one award." and then treated that award like it was really nothing, more like a joke really. Now I'm not saying that these M-Power awards are taken as serious as say, the Junos or anything, but jeez, if I was an artist and won something from the ceremonies, I'd be really grateful. In any case, I really dislike this band now. But then again, maybe it's just me. It's incidents like that that really make me wonder if there's much point in starting a band in the first place. Nuff said... comments?!? - Sun, 18 May 2003 8:33pm
Anonymous | You suck anyways, so dont bother - Sun, 18 May 2003 8:52pm
Elementary My Dear Watson | Nice enough guys, but they arent doing much band wise.. have they even toured?? - Sun, 18 May 2003 8:57pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I suck?!? But then again, I don't post anonymously. But that's irrelevant. According to their website, here are the upcoming dates... June 5th The Queen's Nanaimo w/ Fan Tan Alley June 6th The Upstairs Cabaret (Harpo's), Victoria w/ Fan Tan Alley June 18th the Royal, Vancouver guest T.B.A. June 26th The Kingsknight Pub, Edmonton June 28th Alberta's Own Rock Festival So at least they're playing one festival. Wonder what there up to before that. Possible gig at Lucky Bar or Logans?!? Tis a guess. - Mon, 19 May 2003 4:37am
Anonymous | Yes you do suck. face it. WHat do u play, how many GIGS have you done. Congrats to those guys, good luck. you are an idiot. The M power awards are not real awards. There is no nomination based on accomplishes. Bands that have put on a show or two here and there are nominated. YES YES i know, why dont I get off my ass and do something, like the M power awards. Seriously, if someone was to concentrate solely on their music, and not even hear about M power, they wouldnt even be nominated - Mon, 19 May 2003 8:14am
ROSS B AY User Info... | I always found it kinda funny that when a local band wins something like this, or a spot on the old Rocktoria thing, they almost immediately fade away and within a few months nobody ever hears of them again ever. Wouldn't it be smart to use that accomplishment to get the fuck out there and do something? Maybe some bands think there's nothing left for them after that. Who knows, but seems to me trying for something like that would be against your better ideas for the band. It's like a grave for pop bands those things..... - Mon, 19 May 2003 11:41am
Cordova Bay User Info... | Congratulations to Jeffery Sez for winning the "Best Album" award for "15 Smiles to the Gal" at the M*POWER AWARDS last night!! - Mon, 19 May 2003 12:47pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I dunno, perhaps I haven't played in any bands, or done any shows, but without fans like me trying to support the scene as best as they can, there is no scene, and that's sad. - Mon, 19 May 2003 2:43pm
crow | well said griphon, good on you. - Mon, 19 May 2003 2:47pm
crow | griphin sorry.Better fix my mistake before i get slagged by the spelling anons. - Mon, 19 May 2003 2:48pm
Anon386 | Bands tend to fade away if the buzz they create doesn't translate into sustained good gigs and album sales or broader recognition. Jeffery Sez has been a rock band in this city for close to a decade. Good on them for winning an award and sticking to it. - Mon, 19 May 2003 3:06pm
ML7Mike | So true. Congrats to the Jeffreys for stickin it out and winning! - Mon, 19 May 2003 3:30pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yes, congrats to the band, I'll have to pick that up and give it a listen. - Mon, 19 May 2003 11:44pm
I on U | Maybe Jeffrey Sez isn't everyone's kind of band... Maybe some peope have issues with them... BUT... having a local Vic band make it "OFF THE ISLAND" puts a focus on Victoria that will have positive repercussions on ALL BANDS & MUSICIANS in Victoria. DON'T "LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH", GUYS! The 15 minutes of fame is fleeting. Work it to everyone's benefit! - Tue, 20 May 2003 1:47pm
!*! | Have you guys ever talked to the sez guys??? or better yet done a show with them??? Once you talk to them you'll know that they're actually really nice guys and always looking out for other bands in town. The perceived arrogance that you talk about is just a stage personna... going along with the edgy hard rock... My band has opened for them tons of times and they always made sure we got paid... even if they didn't. And about the M POWER's, you can't focus on just getting awards... (everyone knows it's just a popularity contest for victoria anyways)... They have toured Canada (I think a few times now) and their focus is the music. They're very proud of the best album award.... Talk to them they won't bite! - Tue, 20 May 2003 2:00pm
Anonymous | every time i've talked to them they've been assholes. i think they think i can't do anything for them, so they don't bother with me. and they have bad hair. - Tue, 20 May 2003 2:10pm
Unbiased | OK, can I please be a judge here. I have never met J-Sez or ever heard there music and I do not know anyone who knows them on a social level other then that they are musicians. If someone wants to give me a link to an mp3 I will gladly give a fully honest opinion. Plus now I am kinda interested in hearing their shit. - Tue, 20 May 2003 2:12pm
Anonymous | how do we know that you aren't a band member? - Tue, 20 May 2003 2:54pm
