Singer-songwriter Adam Baldwin has been a mainstay of the Atlantic Canada music scene for over a decade. Starting as a member of rock combo Gloryhound before joining Matt Mays & El Torpedo in 2009, Baldwin’s own music has continued to evolve since his award-winning self-titled solo EP in 2013. His first full-length album No Telling When (Precisely Nineteen Eighty-Five) was released in 2016, and its follow-up No Rest for the Wicked came out in 2019. When Covid made touring impossible, Baldwin launched his Cross-Country Chin Up series, a Friday-evening YouTube series that raised funds for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, Red Cross Stronger Together Nova Scotia Fund, RCMP Fallen Officer Fund, and the Black Cultural Society for Nova Scotia. The online concert series also produced two digital EPs: Chin Up Sessions (originals) and Songs for the Parlour (covers). His sophomore full-length album Concertos & Serenades pays tribute to a tradition of desperation: sinners and losers, perpetual failures, and down-and-out phantoms that haunt Nova Scotia’s coastlines and back roads. Some of the tales happened, some didn’t, and most walk a tightrope between truth and fiction. The dreamy “Lighthouse in Little Lorraine” was the inspiration for LITTLE LORRAINE (KCFF26), in which he also had a small role. His showbiz credentials don’t end there – recent Broom guests Tracy & Martina joined him on a cover of Eggy’s song “The Coal Miner’s Wife”.
Join us at the Broom for an intimate evening of story and song! This will be a seated event but it’s entirely general admission, so get here early if you’ve got a favourite spot.
