Sunday Night Folk

Event Description

Victoria Folk Music Society(VFMS) weekly gathering -- Everyone-welcome jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers Daniel Cainer & Bob Bossin at 9pm; Friendship Hall, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

The UK's Daniel Cainer and Gabriola's Bob Bossin are elegant, sophisticated, funny, poignant, brilliantly literate songwriters. As Bob might say, they've been doing this a long time….and they are exceptionally good at it!

Daniel is a multi-award-winning, internationally acclaimed British songwriter whose lyrics wander through family, love, faith, food, and everything in between—with a rare blend of humour and pathos. His songs are heart-rending, delicate, and witty in all the right places!

Bob Bossin founded Stringband, authored Davy the Punk, purveyed Bossin's Home Remedy for Nuclear War and wrote such Canadian classics as 'The Maple Leaf Dog,' 'Tugboats,' 'Dief will Be the Chief Again,' and 'Show Us the Length’. To quote Stuart McLean, “Only a handful of songwriters have created a body of work that constitutes a portrait of our country. Stan Rogers did that. So did Gordon Lightfoot. And so does Bob Bossin.”
