“I don’t write sad songs, I write lonely songs,” declares Slow Leaves in the liner notes to his 2025 album In Solitude, For Company. His assertion could serve as a thesis statement for a body of work with recurrent themes of love, loss, loneliness, memory, and time. Awarded Western Canadian Music Awards Songwriter of the Year in 2021, his folk and psych-rock inclinations though rooted in fingerpicking songwriter tradition remain untethered in today’s post-genre landscape. His newest work, The Ruins of Things Unfinished, is out May 2026 on Birthday Cake Records and Make My Day (G/S/A/Benelux).
Pony Gold is the project of Canadian singer-songwriter Theresa Anne Bromley, whose music lives where folk roots meet alt-country grit. Shaped by her rural upbringing, years in recovery, and devotion to real storytelling, Bromley turns hard-earned truth into timeless songwriting in her 2025 debut album High Road Reverie, produced by Leeroy Stagger. A 2026 Western Canadian Music Award Break Out Artist of the Year nominee, Pony Gold has emerged as one of Western Canada's promising new voices.
