Event Description
Noah Becker has spent the last 4 months composing a suite dedicated to the
paintings of Emily Carr. Becker is a visual artist and composer best known
for his large portraits of Mozart and Rossini on the mezzanine at the Royal
Theatre. Noah's family owns and operates ARTWORLD on Chatham st. "I wanted
to write music that has a connection to Victoria and it's cultural heritage,
Emily Carr was a logical choice." says Becker. Becker has traveled
extensively over the past 5 years and was performing and exhibiting in New
York City. On leaving New York, "I was living in New York, and reading
books about Fredrick Varley from the Group of Seven, it was time to come
home." Becker's paintings are also featured in important Canadian
collections alongside Emily Carr's works. "Contributing to the cultural
fabric of Canada is a great honor" Becker says with a smile.
The Emily Carr Suite is a 45 minute work in 5 parts:
1.Introduction
2.The Forest
3.The song of Woo
4.The Journey
5.Return
