Event Description
Bringing the energy of a kitchen party and the heart of the old world, The Slieves are a spirited West Coast Celtic band rooted in the traditional territories of the Lekwungen, WSÁNEĆ, and Quw'utsun peoples. Hailing from Victoria and Duncan, B.C., the trio—Tasia MacKay (Irish flute, whistles, banjo, vocals), Jeremy Walsh (guitar, vocals), and Andrew Morris MacKay (bodhrán, spoons, vocals)—have spent over a decade sharing traditional Irish tunes, rousing sea shanties, and original Celtic-inspired music that gets feet moving and spirits lifted.
Drawing inspiration from Dervish, The Bothy Band, The Pogues, and more, The Slieves are known for their heartfelt arrangements and high-energy jigs and reels. For their ArtisTREE performance, they’ll be joined by Celtic square dance caller Galen Armstrong—so come ready to dance, clap, and celebrate the living tradition of Celtic folk on the beautiful West Coast!
