Illiteratty is a six-member meta-folk band based in Vancouver, meta-folk meaning original swing, European Cabaret, Ambient, Celtic, Rockabilly, a cappella, Folk, World, and Pop (did we mention Folk?) With sharp lyrics and up to five-part vocals, Illiteratty’s music is compassionate, funny, angry, idiosyncratic, intelligent, extremely varied, and original! With instrumentation from three to six musicians, the band’s full complement includes Earle Peach, guitar & vocals; Ellen Van Der Hoeven, mandolin & vocals; Barb Dominik, violin & vocals; Natalie Philp, standup bass & vocals; Mark Douglas, keyboards & vocals; and Wes Skakun on percussion.
