Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering: Everyone—welcome Jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers Bowker Creek at 9pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door
Together since 2009, Bowker Creek plays unique arrangements of familiar and hidden gems from a wide range of musical genres including folk, country, rock, old time and swing. Based in Victoria, Bowker Creek has also played all over Vancouver Island, from Sooke to Sayward, at festivals, folk clubs, and summer markets. Kathy Broder (vocals and guitar) has a powerful and dynamic voice that she uses to great effect; Nancy Grossert (bass and vocals) is known for her versatility across folk and traditional genres; Bruce Kerr (dobro, guitar, and vocals) has played guitar and pedal steel professionally with various rock and country bands; and Dan Ready (mandolin and guitars) has been performing in blues, rock, fusion and acoustic bands since he was just fifteen! Wow!!
