Praised for his unique musical voice and instincts, VC Artist and Violinist Joshua Brown (June 22/23) has found success in performances and competitions worldwide, continually garnering praise from critics. He gained international attention after winning the 2nd Prize and both Audience Awards at the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Joshua won the Gold Medal at the inaugural 2023 Global Music Education International Violin Competition in Beijing, which includes $100,000, international management, and tours. Prior to that he won the1st Prize and Audience Award at the 2019 International Violin Competition of Leopold Mozart in Augsburg, Germany. Just this month Joshua was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant.
Joshua was first recognized for his debut performance with the Cleveland Orchestra. He has gone on to perform regularly with orchestras around the world, including the Munich Radio Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester (Leipzig), Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Civic Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, and Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liege, among others, continually garnering praise from critics. His EKSM programme includes J.S. Bach’s Sonata No 3 in C Major for Solo Violin, Ravel’s Sonata no. 2 in G Major for violin and piano, and (together with the Muse Ensemble) the ultra-expressive F minor piano quintet of César Franck. Joshua plays on a Nicolo Amati violin from Cremona, circa 1635-1640.
