(8:45pm) Don Chambers is a local singer, songwriter, and luthier currently living in Brentwood Bay. Well-known and loved at the VFMS, Don has been writing folk music and playing acoustic guitar since the ’60s. His work is eclectic and vibrant, including historical ballads, personal reflections, environmental and political issues, love songs, and light-hearted musings. Don is an engaging storyteller delivering his material with the rich voice of his Welsh heritage.
(9:10pm) Max Francis is a 13-year-old award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist, and Folk club favourite! He is a two-time B.C. fiddle champion, a U.S. national youth swing fiddle champion, and he recently finished in the top 3 at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Competition. Max’s classical compositions have won gold and platinum awards at the National Music Festival, and he has performed as a featured artist with the Victoria Symphony, the Emily Carr String Quartet, and many others. WOW!
(9:35pm) Big Train is an acoustic duo bringing together two distinct generations of Blues talent performing original songs along with some of the meanest harmonica licks this side of the Mississippi! Lonnie Glass, a professional musician and songwriter of six decades, met young Daniel Morel from Montreal at an open mic in Victoria and together they create a unique take on “The Blues” reminiscent of Prine & Cohen mixed with a quart of Tom Waits and a pint of Louis Armstrong!
