Standard Issue Pleasure Model and Vancouver-based psychonauts Highland Eyeway, along with Earth Freaks and Black Treacle, invite YOU to a night of psychedelic spectacle.
Standard Issue Pleasures Model:
Since meeting in 2016, Shea Morgan and Raine Balson honed their craft, putting together psychedelic garage-rock, post-punk, post-rock and grunge compositions. Talented vocalists, and spirited guitarists, Standard Issue Pleasure Model were a band to be reckoned with; their live shows were electric, full of a glam-grunge energy. Raine grew as a performer, taking the spotlight with an incendiary presence that evoked the great frontwomen of the seventies. Her lead vocals propelled the band's debut single, and to date most popular track, Private Reserve, into the stratosphere. Soon after, the album "2020" was released, a concise yet ambitious first record, produced entirely by the band themselves and mixed and mastered by the hidden secret of Vancouver Island: Malcom Owen-Flood.
From the hectic days of 2020 through to 2023, Standard Issue Pleasure Model cemented themselves as fixtures in the independant-rock scene in Victoria and across Vancouver Island. Named Band of the Month by the biggest alt-rock station in the region, 91.3 the Zone, Standard Issue Pleasure Model continues to punch above their weight; delivering passionate, fresh, and captivating performances.
Highland Eyeway:
Lucid, psychedelic, dreamscapes evoked by Highland Eyeway draws the listener into other worldly dimensions. Influenced by mystical Forest canyons with pulsing Moss covered trees that holds secrets for its dwellers, the band aimes to acknowledge these patterns by reflecting them in sound
Earth Freaks:
Earth freaks Cruise atop driving rhythms and hypnotic riffs, intertwined with powerful harmonies. Drawing from a diverse blend of influences, the four piece crafts their own unique strain of nostalgia induced Indie-psych-rock through carefully crafted songwriting and infectious stage presence. They take the listener out of our current reality on a trip into their explosive sonic experience.
Black Treacle:
Black Treacle is an alternative rock duo from Esquimalt, BC that started as a recording project. Bringing the experimentation of Brian Eno together with the slow pour of emotion of The Cure and Elliott Smith, Black Treacle wears their hearts and studio antics on their sleeve. When they’re not recording themselves or others on 8 track tape, they can be found running sound at local shows.
