Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering; Everyone welcome jam 6:45pm, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers The Ranters at 9:00pm; Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash at the door

The Ranters, Rockland Moran and Gillian Wale, are an Americana/Roots duo from Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island. Their CD 'Rant On, Children' consists of nine originals and one traditional song, focussing on their vocal harmonies as well as their instruments: guitars, mandola, and autoharps.

The Ranters have travelled the Pacific west coast doing gigs along the way, enjoying the social intimacy of private house concerts and the chance to mingle, sing, perform, and share the company of fellow musicians at festivals. They have also attended Seattle Autoharp Gatherings where they performed and where Gillian received autoharp instruction from Bryan Bowers, an American autoharp legend. When possible, Rockland and Gillian also love to climb the occasional pyramid in Mexico!
