Poetry in Motion

Event Description

Arrive early for registration and getting grounded in the space, doors open at 1230.
- It is a closed container and so doors will lock shortly after 1pm, so please arrive on time.
- Have in mind a favorite line, phrase, or word to contribute to the space.
- My good friend Seth Leupold will be bringing his bass when the inspiration and desire hits :)

Schedule:

Introduction and icebreaker (45min):
- exercises to get everyone comfortable with the space, whether you are reading poetry, dancing, or being a witness to the experience

Connect and Inspire (15 min):
- Dancers and poets will be paired together and poets will share tone, emotion, contours of their words without sharing the poem

Collaborative performances (90 min)
- poets will have an opportunity to share their words
- dancers will share the stage and improvise movement

Closing and feedback (15 min)
- an opportunity to share reflection, feelings, feedback

What to bring:
- an open mind and heart
- nonjudgement for yourself and others
- water bottle
- comfortable clothes
- a line, phrase, or word that resonates with you now
- poems if you would like to share
- your expressive movements if you would like to dance
