Event Description
Check out Gentle Sparrow on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, a local-ish singer-songwriter based near Perth and currently releasing an EP. He is a JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated with previous projects.
From Gentle Sparrow’s website:
“We’re about three minutes into the set, and I can feel the hair standing up all over my body” – Roots Music Canada
This is the experience of a Gentle Sparrow show – the room goes suddenly quiet, the air infused with electricity, as Gentle Sparrow’s soulful voice and hypnotic guitar cast a mystical spell.
Gentle Sparrow’s songs live beneath the surface, in the inner world, where emotions and dreams mingle. He began writing as a personal self-care exercise and realized that his music had the power to heal and transform others as well as himself.
Gentle Sparrow honed his craft in Los Angeles, performing at parties and events, and improvising personalized songs on the spot for his roommates during lockdown. Now based in his home province of Ontario, he lives and works in a loft studio in a converted church in Lanark Highlands, deep in the woods of the Canadian Shield.
The man behind Gentle Sparrow is composer and veteran musician Robbie Teehan, a 4-time JUNO and 8-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, known for his film score for the award-winning Canadian indie drama “Scarborough” and his work as a former member of the Lemon Bucket Orkestra, the Heavyweights Brass Band, and the Boxcar Boys.
