Event Description
Open Voices Community Choir presents SWINGIN' THE BLUES at 2 pm and 7:30 pm with guest artist Anna Sudac and hot vibes musicians.
Open Voices is a mixed voice adult choir under the artistic direction of Andy
Rush. The music in this concert is sort of ‘The American Song Book’ (think Ella Fitzgerald) meets swing and
blues standards from the 30’s, 40’ and 50’s . It’s all recognizable, fun and upbeat. Anna and the band are
involved throughout, and the jazz musicianship of Paul Clifford, Stu Pike, Spencer Evans and Anna Sudak is
formidable. You’ll be snappin’ along the whole time.
Anna Sudac is a Kingston-based performing artist, musician, playwright and director, whose love of the stage
has taken her across Canada, and beyond. In addition to solo work as a singer/songwriter, master of ceremonies
and DJ, she performs as a duo with Jesse MacMillan and as part of the trio Foster, Shea and Sudac. Anna has
been a featured backup vocalist in live concerts and professional recordings for artists such as Spencer Evans,
Savannah Shea, The Gertrudes, Juno nominees Georgette Fry and Miss Emily, and Juno winner Emilie Mover.
Anna most recently co-starred in You’ve Got A Friend – A Tribute to Carole King and James Taylor and is
returning as a favoured guest vocalist with Open Voices choir.
Paul Clifford is a widely respected and experienced bass player. He is considered by many to be Kingston’s
premier Jazz double bassist.
Stu Pike is a Kingston drummer with great experience in a variety of genres. Open Voices considers him to be
the BEST drummer to have in a choral performance.
Spencer Evans is a multi-talented instrumentalist who will be featured mostly on clarinet. Spencer will be
Open Voice’s “improvisation and spontaneity guru” for this show.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
