Join past poet laureate Yvonne Blomer for an engaging workshop surrounded by stimulating contemporary artworks at the Metchosin ArtPod Gallery. You will read ekphrastic poems, explore the visual art around you, and write your own poems in the
ekphrastic tradition. Ekphrastic poems focus on works of art, but according to www.poets.org, "Modern ekphrastic poems have generally shrugged off antiquity's obsession with elaborate description, and instead have tried to interpret, inhabit, confront and speak to their subjects."
Join Yvonne for a few hours where you will inhabit pieces of art and speak to or from them through poetry. Bring pen and paper and be ready to create several new drafts of poems.
If poets are willing, poems or poem fragments may be selected to display alongside the artworks that inspired them for the duration of the Ekphrasis art show running through to 20 November 2022.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
