Event Description
_____NOEDY______
Noedy Hechavarria Duharte comes from Santiago de Cuba, a city Cubans affectionately call “la tierra caliente” (the warm land). In Cuba, Noedy studied at the Alvaro Variel Conservatory in Havana and played in various bands the Tropicana in Santiago de Cuba and the National Cabaret in Havana. He participated as one of the actors in the acclaimed film El Benny directed by Jorge Luis Sánchez and released in 2006.
After he arrived in Quebec, he was selected at the School of Music at the University of Sherbrooke in the Jazz Music Performance bachelor program, which he completed in 2013. In 2014, he moved permanently to Victoria to stay with his family. Noedy remains active on the jazz scene of Montreal since his arrival in Canada in 2008 but has now established himself as a unique and original upcoming jazz musician on the West Coast of Canada.
After his arrival in Canada, Noedy took the opportunity to study with internationally renowned musicians such as the pianists Danilo Pérez and Aruan Ortiz in New York City and the saxophonists Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, René Bolduc, Frank Lozano and Ralph Bowen. He also performed with jazz musicians such as John Pizzarelli, Alexander Brown and Rafael Zaldivar.
Noedy composes original music that is often described as highly poetic, complex with strong harmonies. His music is influenced by contemporary jazz music, Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms as well as francophone music from Quebec and France.
Noedy will play two sets and is joined by Wes Carroll (Guitar), Miles Fuller (Drums) and Brock Meades (Bass)

We are happy to announce that we're back to hosting live music on our stage!!
With the help of FACTOR and Creative BC from Sept 17th we'll be blessed to have some beautiful artists cross our stage again. Shows are Friday and Saturday evenings. Tickets can be purchased online in advance through the Eventbrite link on the Facebook event page. If online ticket purchases don't sell the show out there will be tickets available at the door.
It's at your discretion to wear a mask or not inside. Dancing is a thing again! It can feel cosy in here with a full house and we understand apprehensions as things open back up. We're all navigating this differently as we move back to some sort of semblance of normalcy, we'll strive to accommodate all in the enjoyment of musical performance.
Thank you for your understanding and support, we can't wait to see y'all!!
