Event Description
On behalf of Nancy Noble Director/CEO, we are pleased to invite you to the opening of the Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts 2021 exhibition. Join us at the Gallery for an evening of celebrating the exceptional careers of the award winners. This event is free and open to the public.
The honorees are Germaine Arnaktauyok, Lori Blondeau, Dempsey Bob, Luc Courchesne, Bonnie Devine, Cheryl L’Hirondelle, Bryce Kanbara, and Lou Lynn. These artists were celebrated in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the visual arts, media arts, and fine craft. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to see the work of these artists, who live in various parts of Canada, together in one location. Artists will be in attendance.
Guests can enjoy live music by Breakwater Quartet, and a glass of wine or a special cocktail created by Victoria Distilleries and Empress 1908 Gin at a paid bar during this event.
Exhibition runs from October 15, 2022 to March 5, 2023.
The Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts 2021 exhibition is organized by the AGGV with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Curated by AGGV Chief Curator, Jaimie Isaac.
