UVic Concerto Competition Winner, Amy-Lynne Toth, performs Vieuxtemps's Violin Concerto No. 5 with the UVic Orchestra. Also on the program is Haydn’s Overture in D Major, Brahms’s Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Estancia by Ginastera, and Kodály’s Dances of Marosszék.
Amy-Lynne picked up her first violin at the age of 5 and has never looked back. By sixteen, she was a full-time first violinist in the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra and has since performed in professional ensembles and orchestras throughout Alberta and BC. She is currently in her 4th year at UVic studying violin performance with Ann Elliott-Goldschmid. Amy-Lynn was recently awarded a UVic Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Award for her study of the influence of Eastern-European folk music in 20th century classical works, and will give a public presentation and performance in March 2019.
