Cabaret Voltaire Diversions is pleased to invite you to
A Celebration of Life: Harry Houdini
On the 31st of October 1926 Erik Weisz moved from our perceived tangible world into the great unknown of death.
He was a man of true sleight of hand, but with a twist.
Handsome and dangerous in a time on the precipice of change. A hard fact mind with a public face and a private hidden life.
On October 28th celebrate the life of this fascinating and impressive individual through music, magic and perception in the beautiful atmosphere of The Martin Batchelor Gallery, with us.
The evening will begin with a concise and complete lecture about Houdini by Victoria Magic Circle member, acclaimed illusionist, and Houdini Historian, Steve Hignett.
After the lecture you will have the rare chance to participate in an experiential seance using victorian techniques such as glass moving, planchette, provided and hosted by Dawn of Beyond Belief Paranormal Events
As we complete our metaphysical exploration, Steve Hignett will return to the stage, keeping us on the edge of our seats as he executes the classic Houdini straightjacket escape act
Following Hignett`s suspenseful performance, local magician and experimental performer The Great Giffoni will exercise his unique skills in the sleight of hand to our delight.
The eveing will finish with the Auditory Summoning by
L.L-Theremin Dissection
&
Golden Hand-Ritualized Psychedelic
An evening to delight the senses of both the dead and alive.
This will be a ‘Cravate Noir” event, though in the style of the man himself, with rolled sleeves. Wear your finest but prepare for a challenge.
