Nick La Riviere released his debut album Too Much To Do in 2009. The jazz instrumental record featured La Riviere on trombone and conch shells, along with some amazing jazz players including: Ross Taggart (piano), Jodi Proznick (bass) and Jesse Cahill (drums). The album was well-received by music critics, including Jeremiah Sutherland at Island Jazz, who summed up the album like this: "If Nick La Riviere’s debut release Too Much to Do were a person, you’d want it sitting next to you on plane trip because it’s just so darn entertaining. The album is exuberant, multi-faceted, humorous, outgoing and just fun to be around."
With the release of his 2nd album Another Time Around, Nick La Riviere plans to take the musical world by storm with his own unique brand of genre-bending music. This time with vocals. Every song on the album is original, with a blend of influences ranging from Sam Cooke to Jamiroquai to Ben Folds to Paul Simon. The album features a dizzying array of tempos, styles, and unexpected twists - all while driving forward with a cohesive unified sound. The feature track 'Woohoo' is a fun, engaging pop song that La Riviere co-wrote with Geoffrey Kelly from Spirit of The West. Watch the video for Woohoo here.
Don't miss Nick La Riviere in Vancouver on Friday, November 6th at Pat's Pub + Brewhouse and in Victoria on Tuesday, November 10th at Hermann's Jazz Club in support of his new album Another Time Around. For a full listing of all upcoming tour dates, please visit nicklariviere.com.
