A Great Way to Celebrate the Holiday Season!
ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20th, the doors of the Port Theatre will open to an extraordinary, one of a kind Interfaith music event! Performers from twelve faith/ spiritual groups will come together for a special evening of sharing chants, songs, dance and spoken word revealing common themes of compassion and peace. The musical performances will include:
Snuneymuxw Drummers, Gifted Coast Salish Elder and Shaker Church Minister Anne Bob,
Andre Nobles – sacred music and Vesta Fire Entertainment, Island Soul Choir
Nanaimo Baha’i Faith, Nanaimo Hindu Cultural Society, Interfaith Nanaimo
Nanaimo Islamic Centre, Nanaimo Pagan Community, Nanaimo Unitarian Fellowship Choir
Nanaimo Sikh Community and St. Andrews United Choir
Following the performances, the public is invited to take part in a discussion facilitated by Paul Bramadat -Author, Researcher, Professor and Director for the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society with the University of Victoria. The discussion will explore the potential of music to bridge an understanding of differing theological beliefs.
