This fall, Avram offers an extra half hour at the beginning of the class for guitarists who are less familiar with swing chording, rhythm and introductory theory, for only $25 paid together with the registration fee for the Swing workshop, for your convenience. This fee ($25) will be returned to the students in the case that there will be less than 4 students registered for the extra half hour.
All participants will learn a small selection of swing tunes and perform them together as a class. We will also break into small ensembles where each member will choose a swing tune and learn how to lead and teach the tune to the rest of the ensemble. We will culminate our eight weeks by performing the fruits of our labour at a local venue. The goal of the workshop is to sharpen our skills of playing in a group, both as a leader and a follower, deepen our appreciation of traditional jazz music and have a wonderful time.
The Larsen Swing Extravaganza has been offered since 2008 and is instructed by the local trad jazz performer and instructor Avram Devon McCagherty. For more information about Avram, see his bio and his band website.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
