Event Description

Canadiana extravaganza returns to the railway club! Three songwriters from across the land keep the great Canadian folk music tradition alive for one more night in Vancouver’s finest establishment. Don’t miss Brian Dunn’s highly anticipated return to the historic railway club!
D Trevlon
"In a nutshell -- Do what you love, take risks, follow your instinct, and its not always a bad thing to be a little different" After releasing To: The Dusty Moon And You, one of the best — and unfortunately one of the most overllooked — albums of 2005, singer/songwriter D. Trevlon has returned with the seven-song A Dance Under The Stars. Like its predecessor, it's an acoustic record with gently stirring songs that manage to embed themselves in both your head and heart. This is an artist deserving of more attention, so remember his name. That's Trevlon, with a D.”
Steve Mclean - Author/Canadian Legend
Brian Dunn
“ Turn the noise machines up,” yelled Dunn from the main room of Cosmic Dave's Sound Emporium. It had been weeks of this. Dunn and Nathan Lawr would record in the early parts of the evening and than Dave Mckinnon (Fembots) and him would stay up well past sunrise, creating landscape for the recently laid bed tracks. The live performances between Nathan Lawr and Brian are live. Nothing has been adjusted or edited. They were side by side with microphones picking up everything in the room including the trains running across the street, or the summer rain soaking the back ledge of the open studio door. The record’s magical. It has everything you'd expect in 11 songs. Folky underline rhythms with at times harsh strings of audio chaos. Each song has its own purpose as it slides in amongst the rest. This is what Dunn wanted. A collection of tunes that would reflect the last 6 years and allow him to set back out on the road.
Dave Phillips
Vancouver songwriter Dave Phillips has certainly found his own voice. Perhaps that is what compels him to find new sounds, new melodies, “new colours” as evident on his solo debut “1887 - 1905”. While this unlikely collaboration with veteran producer Ben Mink does hit on something new, it is everywhere rooted with a deep understanding of his musical tradition.
He’s managed to say a lot in this five song disc. Each track stands alone as a rich, complex statement both lyrically and musically. The Georgia Straight has praised the record’s “rich and expansive sound” and “just-right emotive vocals”.
