Event Description
Of the many pieces Liszt wrote for the piano during his long career (1811-1886), the 60 works based on popular operas of his day are rarely heard nowadays. Opera Appassionata has chosen 6 representative transcriptions, paraphrases and reminiscences Liszt composed between 1840 - 1876 and paired them with arias and ensembles from the original operas sung by local opera singers. 4 concert pianists and 6 soloists will treat you with highlights from "Don Giovanni", "Norma", "Lucia", "Rigoletto", "Tristan" and the "Ring". This unforgettable concert will take place in the piano showrooms of Tom Lee music, thereby giving you the special flair and atmosphere of the 19th century musical salons they were intended for. As Brahms once said: "Whoever really wants to know what Liszt has done for the piano should study his operatic fantasies. They represent the classicism of piano technique!"
