Cary Brothers biggest break came in 2004. His song “Blue Eyes”, which he’d written years earlier, was selected by writer/producer Zach Braff (Scrubs, The Last Kiss) for the soundtrack of his film Garden State. The movie became an instant classic, and the soundtrack won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album. This award helped “Blue Eyes” reach the top of the iTunes Folk Chart.
Who You Are, Brothers’ debut full length album follows two EPs which Cary released on his own label. Who You Are took a year and a half to write and record, and while it retains Brothers’ trademark blend of acoustic and electric guitars, the arrangements on this album are deeper and fuller than the tracks on his last EP, 2005’s Waiting For Your Letter.
