Event Description

Victoria's 8th Annual Ska Festival as enjoyable and successful as it was has come to a close BUT there is much more on the horizon for the rest of the summer and into fall (we'll tell you about that another time;)

Friday, August 10th the Victoria BC Ska Society is proud once again to bring Victoria Columbia's best ska/reggae/Latin/funk group LA SEVERA MATACERA. LA SEVERA MATACERA was born in Bogota Columbia 12 years ago with the intent in forming a band which could mix all the influences of its members. The fusion of ska, reggae, funk jazz and traditional styles native to Columbia with a very hard rock feeling brings out the unique touch that La Severa Matacera gives to its music, showing that the roots of these genres are the same so that they match perfectly. A very harmonious brass ensemble joined by a rhythm base made of powerful bass, guitar and drums grooving together contagiously is the key. The personal experiences of all the members of the band and a little reflection of the daily happening in a chaotic world gives the band space to understand it and then spread the message full of positive energy, tolerance and most of all respect for the basic human rights such as life and freedom. Victoria's Manitario - reggae/rock groove will bring up the vibes even more complimenting La Severa's Latin/ska/reggae sound. This will be a free show. ALL AGES WITH BEER GARDEN, FOOD CONCESSION AND MERCHANDISE TENT! Bring your friends and family to this one!
