Johnny Reid calls himself a blue-eyed soul singer. But the Scottish-born, Nashville-based singer has been embraced by the country music community thanks to the lyrical content of songs like “You Still Own Me”, the hit that received a CCMA Award for Independent Song of the Year. In Canada, where Johnny spent several formative years, he regularly receives standing ovations at the big summer country music festivals, on his tour with Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and in opening spots for Terri Clark and Brad Paisley.
Released March 2005, his Open Road/Universal debut Born to Roll has spawned three Canadian chart hits, “You Still Own Me”, “Sixty to Zero”, and his number one “Missing an Angel”. In 2005, he received a CCMA nomination as Rising Star of the Year. The raspy soulfulness of his compellingly gritty voice regularly elicits comparisons to John Mellencamp and Rod Stewart. His latest album, Kicking Stones, hits stores April 10th.
Jessie Farrell is a commanding performer with a tight band, strong voice, and lots of onstage charisma. Playing hook-laden pop influenced by country and folk, Jessie counts the Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain among her influences. Since releasing her 2002 debut Today, this talented Vancouver singer has worked with songwriter Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt) for her latest independent CD.
