The largely acoustic, ballad-driven, lushly poetic record swiftly established Damien as a performer to watch. Damien’s 2006 follow-up 9 has repeated that first record’s success both critically and commercially. A more ambitious, intense and confident disc, it reached the top of the Irish charts, #4 in the U.K. and #22 in the U.S.
