The ROMP! Festival of Dance is now on hiatus.
We are proud to have produced 20 Festivals so far - supporting the work of independent dance artists; offering development periods for original projects; and hosting outreach and curatorial practices to benefit local, national and international communities.
Over the years, participants of ROMP! have included a vital cross section of Canadian and International artists: Gunwoo Jun, Hoyeon Kim, Min Jin Kim, Jungha Lim, Hyoseung Ye (South Korea); Lindsay Renee Derry, Linda Lehovec (USA); Lina Cruz, Dominique Porte (Montreal); DA Hoskins, Danielle Baskerville (Toronto); David Earle (Guelph); Helen Husak (Calgary); Aeriosa, Josh Beamish, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Jennifer Mascall, Crystal Pite, Paras Terezakis, Wen Wei Wang (Vancouver); Ballet Victoria, Constance Cooke, Jung ah Chung, Monique Salez (Victoria), and many, many others!
As Suddenly Dance Theatre currently celebrates its 28th anniversary, we are in a period of evaluation. In 2005, we put the ROMP! Festival on hiatus for 2 years to make our widely-seen OPIUM for national television. We learned from that experience that creative restoration, administrative analysis and time-off allowed us to come back to the Festival with renewed energy - while offering us greater opportunities to gain worldwide audiences. For now, we will focus on creative opportunities, unfulfilled projects that deserve attention, and the creative evolution of original work.
Suddenly Dance Theatre will continue to serve dance, theatre and media artists to reach and educate the public via several new projects in a variety of forms.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
