Listen to their debut CD, Reichenbach Falls, and it’s easy to see why this New York City indie band is often compared with Arcade Fire. Ravens & Chimes met at New York University and their impressive musical skills, as well as their youthful optimism, have combined to create a beautiful and unique sound that flows between subtle and epic. Confident enough to take an often-whimsical approach to the challenge of composing postmodern pop rock, these eclectic musicians can build multiple orchestral crescendos in one song and then reference the sound of garage-rock drumming in another. Their lyrics, both pointed and poignant, take flight on the supple voices of this remarkable group, one that is all too easy to fall in love with.
