Parc-X Trio
The latest post-jazz sensation from Montreal stems from that city’s most multicultural enclave, Parc-Extension. The instrumental trio known as Parc-X features Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier piano, Alex Lefaivre bass, and Mark Nelson drums. Their original compositions are a mix of pop, classical, jazz, and world music, while the band itself is well known for its high-energy shows. They have become regulars at the Montreal Jazz Festival and, in2010 won that festival’s “TD Jazz Grand Prix Award.” The band’s first album, Parc-X Trio, has been critically acclaimed for its melodicism and instrumental virtuosity
