Born in Toronto with Jamaican roots, singer-songwriter
Kellylee Evans is the proud owner of a wonderfully clear and supple alto voice. After first attracting notice as a jazz singer, Evans has developed her own brand of jazz infused worldbeat soul. Sounding like a cross between Sarah Vaughan and Norah Jones, Kellylee is equally compelling as a songwriter. Her self-penned debut CD, 2006’s
Fight or Flight, received both Juno and Gemini Awards. Her sophomore release, The Good Girl, is a sophisticated
follow-up, a mix of everything from smooth urban jazz to reggae-dub. More than making good on her initial promise, Evans has become one of the most exciting performers on the Canadian scene. Dave Thompson
