How did all the scenesters like the show Friday at the 50-50? - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 5:46pm

The Pink Mountaintops are one of my current favorites and they were soooo great live. It was my first time seeing them live.

The Raygun are deffinitely quickly becoming one of my favorite local bands. They rock and if you haven't seen them yet you should.

Wolf Parade are a good band I can tell but I just couldn't get into it. I left a few songs into their set.

The Mountaintops stole the show but The Raygun are really quite the band, especially taking into mind how new they are. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 6:44pm

woah! jay watts reads livevictoria! the raygun are boring typical synth rock, in my opinion. their big hit is a song with the chorus " rock and roll. rock, rock, and roll. rock and roll is the only way out, yeah." , which prompts everyone to swish their hair from side to side. - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 11:10am

What in the world are you talking about? The Raygun are one of my favorite bands and I think they have really improved are still improving. Just because a band isn't your style doesn't mean they are shit and bad musicians. - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 1:13pm

Jay! Good to see you back on the messageboard. The Raygun play exactly the type of art-damaged post-whatever dance music you're into. YOu'll love them. - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 2:51pm

While I disagree with your opinion I'll defend your right to express it. Victoria needs more art-damaged bands, however dull and derivative they may be, particularly if they have connections to B.T.O.!!! - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 3:16pm

Victoria doesn't need more of those bands. The fad died when Mr. Watts left town. Lets just leave it as a fond memory. - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 3:51pm

Screw the Raygun, Lakeboat = pseudo-coke addled snorefest. Pink Mountaintops and Wolf Parade were inspirational. It isn't easy to get all the fat-old scenesters dancing, only Beyonce and this show have suceeded. - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 8:16pm

Speaking of buzz... I would say both Pink Mountaintops and Wolf Parade have a lot more than the Raygun (so don't pick on the Raygun). Some of it is deserved - Pink Mountaintops is good, I don't know if it's as good as Jerk With A Bomb, but their live show is allegedly better than the record. I don't know Wolf Parade, but there sure was a lot of hype. Anyway, people seemed to have had lots of fun for all three bands, so that's something. - Wed, 3 Nov 2004 12:41pm

I'd say in the cases of Wolf Parade and The Pink Mountaintops, it's definetly deserved. Steve McBean's been writing consistently astonishing music in a number of bands for years now (my memory only goes back to Gus, but I know there were fourty bands before that that Dustin Schwam might be able to name)...

I'm an unabashed promoter of Wolf Parade. Young Jordan Robson-Cramer has also just joined the band. Ex-Lakeboat! - Sun, 7 Nov 2004 9:16pm

While steve has in fact jammed with many people i do believe the only serious projects before Gus were, Jerk ward, which they started in junior high. Then, Mission Of Christ, when Steve was going through his metal years.. Then, Onion House, which as Maximum Rock n Roll put it, would of been great if they didnt have Jack Jones on the vocals.Jack jones was the guy that sang the theme song for the Love Boat... That illustrious singer was Mr. dave Knight... - Mon, 8 Nov 2004 11:50pm

Undoubtedly Ex-Lakeboat will blow Lakeboat out of the water, as most of our talent, and youthful drive, fled to la belle province with one Jordan Robson-Cramer. - Tue, 9 Nov 2004 4:02pm
