Bryan User Info... | Just downloaded the leak of this... I can't believe this album is going to be released under the Cryptopsy name, it's surreal, depressing and hilarious all at the same time. You'll laugh when you hear it. The band that made None so Vile (and was even able to put out a worthwhile recording within the last few years) is completely dead. It seems a bit strange to me that they went for such a blatant sellout attempt, surely it must have occurred to somebody somewhere along the way that you will not get away with steering a legendary death metal band in a shitty, weak MTV deathcore direction. There's still some technicality but it sounds completely robotic, the drums in particular sound painfully triggered and totally lifeless. They got some metalcore asshole to sing for them for some reason, he proves completely subpar at pretty much every vocal style (inclduing, yes, clean vocals, which make appearances on here) and totally unsuitable as a vocalist for what was supposed to be a death metal band. I really wanted to go against the grain of all the metal kids crying "sellout!" over any change of direction, but this is just too obvious to let slide. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 12:44am
Nicholas Antoni Marek Gibas User Info... | Cryptopsy is the most overrated band in Canada. Their best material rested in Blasphemy Made Flesh and select songs on None So Vile. I could see this coming from a mile away. If you want quality from around the same area just stick with anything by Gorguts. At least the members changed band names instead of dragging their legacy through the mud. - Wed, 23 Apr 2008 9:54pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Besides the material Olaz mentioned (although I would say that 98% of None So Vile is essential listening), Cryptopsy have remained in their position due to Flo's drumming and their reputation. I haven't heard this yet, but I believe what the people are saying. - Sun, 27 Apr 2008 7:06pm
Sedlec User Info... | To say they are the most overrated band in Canada is a bit much I think... 100% of None so Vile is essential listening of theirs, actually I prefer it over Blasphemy Made Flesh... thats personal taste though. Not much of a fan of Gorguts but thanks for the info. Can't say I'm a fan of their new stuff but I guess to them after doing it for so long its the way they want to progress, people change. - Mon, 28 Apr 2008 7:44am
Mutilashawn User Info... | I dl'd and listened to the whole thing knowing fully well that it was going to be the worst thing my ears have ever heard ... for fun. Slight masochistic tendencies flare up once and again. It didn't disappoint. - Mon, 28 Apr 2008 7:25pm
1986 User Info... | my review: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA file this album under the spoken word/comedy section - Tue, 29 Apr 2008 10:43pm Edited: Tue, 29 Apr 2008 10:44pm
evilkleg User Info... | Yeah, I heard a couple of the songs when they leaked a few months ago. I seriously thought it was a hoax at the time (but Flo confirmed they were real...) and it was explained away as "a rough mix and not mastered". Let me tell ya somethin'- all the mastering and mixing in the world can't save this crap. YOU CAN"T POLISH A TURD! Change the name of the band before you irreparably damage Cryptopsy's legacy. - Sun, 4 May 2008 4:27pm
Loretta User Info... | Kataklysm would never go emo. - Tue, 27 May 2008 1:13am
Nicholas Antoni Marek Gibas User Info... | No Kataklysm went the whole "shitty bro metal" route instead. - Tue, 27 May 2008 1:28am
Spinvis User Info... | what is "bro metal"?? Kataklysm were killer when they played at LITTLE FERNWOOD years back. - Tue, 27 May 2008 8:54am
Mutilashawn User Info... | Don't make me go on another Kataklysm rant! haha. Kataklysm with Sylvain Houde is genious ... Kataklysm without Sylvain Houde is nothing - Wed, 28 May 2008 10:06am
Mr. Hell User Info... | Actually, Kataklysm are doing quite well for themselves. Nothing is more like sitting in Victoria playing the same clubs year after year. - Wed, 28 May 2008 10:17pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | Or it could mean progressively watering down your sound to appeal to the masses and to satisfy the "new fans" ... sorry man no matter how you spin it Kataklysm is nothing compared to what they used to be. I measure merit based on integrity not fiscal success. - Thu, 29 May 2008 3:58pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | While I am not really a big fan of theirs anyway, and I understand what you're saying, I am sure they are feeling awful about this musical betrayal against those of us who were there from the beginning while they play huge shows in Europe. They probably cry and have therapy over it. - Thu, 29 May 2008 6:07pm
canon.docre User Info... | hahah mitochondrion are a failure. I like the implication there. love it, in fact. that new album .. you guys must be so disappointed with yourselves. thread sucks. so do kataklysm. - Wed, 11 Jun 2008 1:11pm
