mark User Info... | Canadian indie artist Mark Grimshaw to release brand new 5 song CD to record stores October 31st: - Sunday, October 12th, 2003 09:07AM - Garageband.com - - "Melodic grooves, soulful melodies, real music made by a real musician, on my own terms" is how Canadian musician Mark Grimshaw describes his music, as he prepares to release his brand new 5 song CD. "People are tired of 12 song CD's with one or two good songs on it at $20 a pop. The price of a CD these days is ridiculous. Record companies are now realising that artists can do it on their own, releasing the music they want to release, straight from the artist to the consumer. My music is recorded by ME, with no middle man, and no outside influence, at a price anyone can afford. I did the artwork, CD inlay, everything myself. This is the way I intend to market my music from now on. Five quality songs for $5, straight from my home studio to you on an ongoing basis." Mark makes no apologies for the obvious pop feel on his latest release titled "FREE YOUR MIND", but it is apparent from listening to the first single(title of the CD)that this artist is producing quality music, with very catchy melodies, and impressive vocal ability that makes me wonder why why this guy isn't on the radio now. "I have been on rotation before, and there's no doubt that I will be again" says Grimshaw. "I had to spend 10 years honing my ability to be a legitimate solo recording artist, and to be taken seriously. That time is now." Sonically, the CD also deserves a thumbs up, given that it was recorded on a digital 8 track home studio. "Recording studio's??", says Grimshaw. I have lined way too many recording engineers pockets with my hard earned money over the years because I didn't know any better. In all cases, the recordings were much less than desirable compared to what I can do now." He encourages artists to invest in their own home recording studio. "It will be the best investment you can make if your serious about your music", says the singer/songwriter. "It took me 10 years to learn how to record my own songs properly, but now it's going to pay off." Mark is also planning to re-record the single "Free Your Mind" with his live band, and will begin filming the video for the single in a few weeks. This artist is a shining example of what can be done with a little confidence, and a love for all things melodic. This CD is worth checking out. - Garageband.com - CD available at all Lyle's Place locations in Victoria B.C. Canada October 31st, 2003.
